The IKKU International Karate Kobudo Union sets itself apart from other Traditional Karate Organizations through the authentic and extensive kata and bunkai exposure we offer our members in live dojo classes, seminars, weekend camps, and now via digital format. With our robust kata offering, you will experience this throughout your journey with the IKKU, whether you are training with us in a live or live-streaming session or watching a video from our enormous catalog.

Soke Joseph Ruiz learned and collected these kata from his youth and still teaches them today. He learned them directly from the masters of Japan, Kiyoshi Aihara, Kanki Izumikawa, Shogo Kuniba, and more. He generously continues to share his knowledge of Karate, kobudo, kompo, and Iaido with live workshop and camp participants.

The IKKU Kata Shokai shows the entire IKKU KoToSu-Ha Kata curriculum, but you will be exposed to additional kata during live IKKU training sessions. Our Soke has an empty-hand catalog of over 200 kata, so it is no surprise that he has been nicknamed Mr. Kata. Our organization is lucky to have Soke and this elite kata catalog to offer to our members.
